Serves as the Deputy Field Chief for VA Police Services, providing executive leadership and strategic oversight of law enforcement operations, physical security, crisis intervention programs, and compliance activities across a multi-facility catchment area. Ensures integrated, Veteran-centric policing; adherence to federal, state, and local laws; and alignment with VHA mission objectives.
What You'll Do
- →Major duties include, but are not limited to: Demonstrates commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence through data-driven decision-making and collaboration with senior leadership.
- →Guides subordinate managers and supervisors in implementing policies, procedures, and performance standards that support mission priorities and service delivery goals.
- →Identifies service line training and development needs, ensuring managers facilitate opportunities that enhance workforce capability and readiness.
- →Serves as a key VA official during emergencies for effective protective and recovery operations with local, state, and other Federal agencies.
- →Manages operations during emergencies, due to natural or man-made causes, for facilities affected, and oversee plans and actions required to ensure law enforcement and security operations are maintained.
- →Provides executive oversight and strategic direction for law enforcement and compliance operations within the service line, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local laws governing the protection of life, property, and government assets.
- →Oversees investigative and enforcement activities, ensuring subordinate managers and supervisors execute responsibilities related to crime prevention, emergency response, and apprehension of offenders in accordance with Title 38, U.S.C., Sections 901 and 902.
- →Provides executive leadership and strategic oversight for crisis intervention programs within the service line, ensuring effective multidisciplinary responses to Veterans experiencing mental health crises.
- →Provides guidance on complex cases requiring cross-functional coordination and ensures compliance with legal, ethical, and organizational standards.
- →Establishes policies and operational standards for inspections, vulnerability assessments, and security surveys to ensure adherence to VA physical security requirements and federal regulations.
- →Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm CST Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
