About the Role

This position is part of the Office of the Chief Information Officer, Department of Energy. As a Supervisory IT Program Manager, you will be responsible for developing and implementing policies and guidance for Assessments and Authorizations processes, overseeing the administration of cybersecurity training programs, and leading initiatives to build and enhance the Department's cyber workforce capabilities.

  • Veterans shape the future of energy As a Supervisory IT Program Manager, you will: Form and execute strategic security policies and acts as the deciding authority for evaluating and approving security packages for high-impact unclassified and classified (up to Top Secret/SCI) national security systems.
  • Provide executive leadership over security assessments, independent audits, and compliance reviews to identify system vulnerabilities, track plan of action and milestones (POA&Ms), and ensure federal data privacy rules are met.
  • Plan, direct, and standardize cybersecurity training and awareness campaigns across the agency, ensuring critical leadership roles and authorizing officials receive required training.
  • Formulate long-range workforce plans, strategically forecast future technological skill needs, and partner with Human Resources to recruit and hire highly cleared cybersecurity specialists.
  • Work directly with senior Department leadership (such as the CIO and CISO) and represent the agency in high-level interagency working groups to align cybersecurity policy across federal portfolios.
  • Manage day-to-day office operations by planning and assigning work, setting priorities, developing performance standards, assessing employee performance, and identifying training needs for subordinates.
