About the Role

Serves as a Supervisory Inventory Management Specialist for expendable assets/material in a VA Health Care System (VA HCS) and supported catchment area. Supervises multiple supply series of consumable medical supply/inventory used in the healthcare system as well as the micro-purchase program. Occupies a major position on the Facility Logistics Service staff and is critical to operations of the medical center. Advisor and consultant to the Chief Supply Chain Officer (CSCO) and Assistant CSCO.

What You'll Do

  • Include but not limited to: Perform daily, difficult and complex functions.
  • Ensures compliance in section's specific areas of external quality assurance and business reviews.
  • Oversees the inventory management, control and distribution of expendable inventory.
  • Plans, directs and manages inventory management, supply management, receiving, purchasing, distribution, control of facility, pandemic, environmental supplies, office supplies, non-OIT consignment and prosthetics consumables, equipment instrumentation.
  • Coordinate and synchronize requirements with other services/sections in the development of a sound course of action and renders the correct interpretations and decisions involving all phases of the operations/requirements.
  • Establishes procedures and oversees and reviews physical inventories and supply reconciliation.
  • Establishes reporting techniques to foresee any potential problems in Supply control.
  • Analyzes, studies, develops, and directs systems in connection with the EX requirements in the medical center's annual budget development and strategic planning.
  • Coordinates with technical specialists on evaluating the impact of anticipated new technologies on supply processes and customer services; resolves conflicting requirements of several supply program areas.
  • Oversees forecasts of short and long range inventory needs considering changes in medical and surgical technologies, clinical scheduling changes and program requirements. *** A one year supervisory probation period may be required for this position. *** Virtual: This is not a virtual position.

Requirements

  • You must be a U.S.

  • Must possess a valid, state driver's license or commercial driver's license (CDL) as applicable, if required to operate a motor or commercial vehicle.
