This position is in Office of the Administrator (OA), Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR), Special Investigations and Operations Division (SIOD). The ideal candidate for this position is detail-oriented, an analytical thinker with strong oral and written communication skills, experience conducting administrative investigations, labor employee relations, strategic planning, managing personnel, and working with high-level staff.
What You'll Do
- →What will I do in this position if hired?
- →In this position, you will oversee a team of investigators, assign tasks based on employee capabilities and interests, track progress, resolve work-related issues, and implement strategies to improve productivity and quality.
- →You will work investigating violations of standards of conduct, other administrative regulations, and/or laws and statues governing employee responsibilities or behavior.
- →Typical assignments include: Serving as branch chief of the Special Investigations Unit (SIU), you will oversee the work product of a team of investigators.
- →You will supervise the full range of investigative duties, ensure investigations are complete, detailed and address allegations of misconduct and harassment.
- →The SIU branch chief is responsible for oversight of the FEMA Anti-Harassment Program (AHP) investigations in accordance with agency policy.
- →Providing continuing education to internal and external employees, ensuring staff are properly trained to conduct misconduct and harassment investigations.
- →Managing technical and administrative supervisory controls that are in keeping with a first level supervisory position; and Developing partnerships and information networks with internal and external stakeholders, including federal, state, and local enforcement agencies, the intelligence community, and the private sector.
- →Providing expert advice on investigative, security and law enforcement needs and problems, interprets agency guidelines.

- →Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites.
- →All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description.
- →Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.
