About the Role

You will serve as a SUPERVISORY ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER/PHYSICAL SCIENTIST of NAVAL STATION.

What You'll Do

  • You will serve as the overall program manager for Safe Drinking Water Act and Clean Water Act as the product line linkage and interfaces with the Environmental PMs to ensure plans, processes, and policies are implemented across the Branch.
  • You will lead environmental programs (e.g., drinking water, wastewater, storm water) to recommend or initiate corrective actions for compliance, as needed.
  • You will assign work to subordinate employees based on priorities, requirements, and employee capabilities to ensure work is performed and completed within established deadlines.
  • You will resolve engineering issues during operational planning by modifying standard practices and adapting techniques.
  • You will represent the component on various committees and boards involving other naval activities and other Federal and local government agencies.
  • You will provide expert advice to all Navy Region Hawaii and Navy and Marine Corps Installations located in the geographic area on State, Local and Federal environmental standards.

Requirements

  • For the 0819 Professional Physical Science Series: Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Successful completion of a professional engineering degree.
  • Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
  • OR Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.

  • OR Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above).
  • Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
  • OR A combination of education and experience with education equivalent to one of the majors shown above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
