You will serve as a SUPERVISORY INTERDISCIPLINARY ENGINEER for the Flight Controls Branch in the AEROMECHANICS DIVISION, AIR VEHICLE ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT of NAVAIRWARCENAC DIV.
What You'll Do
- →You will direct and supervise a multidisciplinary branch of approximately 45 engineers and scientists, managing performance, recruitment, resource allocation, and professional development.
- →You will serve as the senior technical authority on flight control systems, exercising safety-of-flight decision authority for clearances, groundings, and airworthiness standards.
- →You will oversee the engineering lifecycle of primary, secondary, and integrated flight control systems across research, acquisition, testing, and operational fleet support phases.
- →You will deliver technical consultation and conflict resolution to program managers, leadership, and integrated program teams to resolve complex flight control challenges.
- →You will establish and refine branch policies, engineering processes, design standards, and training programs to ensure personnel readiness, certification, and compliance.
- →You will lead technology innovation and research integration, evaluating emerging advancements in flight-critical hardware and software to support future defense aviation platforms.
Requirements
- ✓Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Successful completion of a professional engineering degree.
- ✓Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
- ✓OR Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.

- ✓OR Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above).
- ✓Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
