About the Role
About the Position: This position is with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, Engineering and Construction Division (E&C). The St. Paul District E&C designs water resource projects to benefit the people of Minnesota, western Wisconsin, northeastern North Dakota, portions of South Dakota and Iowa, and the nation. These projects support inland navigation, flood risk management, and environmental restoration. E&C also provides emergency response to disasters.
What You'll Do
- →Supervise employees engaged in studying, planning, and designing the foundations, soils and material aspects of earth, concrete, and rock structures such as levees, retaining walls, tunnels, roads, channels, and dams.
- →Oversee planning, design, and construction support for flood risk mitigation, navigation, habitat restoration, hydropower, and/or implementation of dam safety interim risk reduction measures.
- →Oversee development of geologic interpretations, soils, foundations, and materials inputs, and designs for the full range of planning and engineering efforts.
- →Provide leadership for the Dam Safety Program (Dam Safety Program Manager) and resources for inspections, evaluations and maintenance of the District's dams.
- →Plan and review work of the section.
- →Assign work and provide instruction covering unusual or complex features of the project.
- →Maintain constant surveillance over section work progress, problems encountered and action taken, and insures schedules are met.
- →Perform supervisory management duties such as initiating, recommending, or approving personnel actions, approving leave, making performance evaluations, identifying training needs, resolving complaints, and effecting minor disciplinary actions.
