The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a first level supervisor providing planning, directing, organizing, and exercising control over equipment, programs and subordinate employees assigned to the Fire and Emergency Services Flight, Fire Alarm Communication Center.
What You'll Do
- →Ability to plan, organize, and direct all the functions of the Emergency Dispatch Center, and task subordinates to meet mission requirements.
- →Knowledge of the location and availability of emergency apparatus and equipment needed for the emergency at hand.
- →Ability to maintain good working relations; communicate effectively both orally and in writing, and able to keep a calm and stable demeanor while dealing with emergency situations.
- →Ability to plan, organize, and direct all the functions of the Emergency Dispatch Center, and task subordinates to meet mission requirements.
- →Thorough knowledge of the Mass State Next Generation (NG) 911 dispatching programs.
- →Direct emergency dispatch center operations, ensuring rapid call processing and prioritized resource deployment, and monitor NG911 and radio networks to ensure readiness.
- →Direct the operation and integration of emergency communications infrastructure, including NG911, FES-IMS Dispatch, automatic fire alarms, and multi-band radio networks.
- →Oversee a team managing emergency calls, alarms, and administrative requests per SOP's and Incident Command requirements.
- →Coordinate with Incident Commanders and mutual-aid agencies to maintain situational awareness and responder safety.
- →Exercise supervisory personnel management responsibilities by planning work to be accomplished by subordinates, setting and adjusting priorities, and preparing schedules for completion of Assign work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments, and the capabilities of employees.
- →Knowledge of basic computer operations to include MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, which includes retrieval and input of data.
- →Ability to operate and maintain computer equipment.
- →Serve as the primary technical authority and POC, ensuring equipment is configured for accurate data receiving and record keeping.
- →Act as the Fire Department IT Manager, directing the implementation, troubleshooting, and life-cycle management of IT assets and telecommunications.
