About the Role
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. This position is included under the provisions of Special Retirement Coverage (SRC) and may have both a maximum entry age and a mandatory retirement date. What You'll Do
- →Serve as Station Chief for structural and/or aircraft crash firefighting and rescue operations at an assigned fire station managing the daily operations of 10-15 personnel.
- →Ensure that personnel and equipment are in a constant state of readiness for immediate response to firefighting and rescue operations.
- →Plan, schedule and coordinate work assignments for up to three firefighting crews.
- →Supervise personnel in controlling and extinguishing fires, effecting rescue operations, maintaining safety, and mitigating hazardous incidents, utilizing established professional techniques.
- →Respond to hazardous material/Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear Explosive (CBRNE)/Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) incidents surveying scene for the purpose of stopping or controlling the release.
- →Administer emergency medical care and treatment for illness and injuries of occupational and non-occupational origin for soldiers, dependents, civilian employees, and visitors to the installation.
