About the Role

***ACCESS TO MEDICAL AND DENTAL CARE IN JAPAN IS EXTREMELY LIMITED. Please see Additional Information section below.*** You will serve as a Supervisory Fire Protection Specialist in the CNRJ Fire and Emergency Services Div, N3 Operations, of COMMANDER, NAVAL REGION JAPAN.

What You'll Do

  • You will initiate, plan, develop and instruct curriculum for formal courses to include maintaining training records, preparing daily lesson plans, scheduling and instructing classes.
  • You will be responsible for the research, development, implementation, and enforcement of the Fire Department's Occupational Safety and Health program that recognizes and reduces risk involved in the operations of a fire department.
  • You will assist in investigating all fires within the region to determine cause, origin, and possibility of arson.
  • You will supervise, evaluate and audit drills and responses of CNRJ Fire and Emergency Services,

Requirements

  • Conditions of Employment Cont: This is a Mission Essential position.
  • You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics.
  • You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.
  • Work requires participation in the DoD firefighter certification program.
  • Incumbent will be required to work a 60 hour work week with eating and sleeping facilities provided in accordance with general fire fighting practices Incumbent will be required to to obtain required DoD certifications: Fire Officer Ill, Fire Inspector II, Fire Instructor Ill and HazMat Incident Command.

  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements.
  • Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

  • A BQ military spouse possesses knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies comparable to others who meet the competitive referral criteria for the specific position.
