You will serve as a Supervisory Environmental Engineer as Head of the Environment Division (106.3), Occupational Safety Health and Environment Office (OSHE) (106), and the Chief Environmental Engineer of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
What You'll Do
- →You will develop effective and efficient teams and organizations You will evaluate environmental programs to ensure that staff, equipment, and procedures are adequate to meet environmental legal/regulatory requirements and objectives.
- →You will provide consultation and advice to management and technical personnel, particularly in dealing with issues not readily covered by established methods/guidance.
- →You will communicate and participate in public relations sufficient to represent the command in both internal and higher echelon meetings and conferences.
- →You will participate in dealings/negotiations with representatives of regulatory agencies, and dealings with the public.
Requirements
- ✓Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Successful completion of a professional engineering degree.
- ✓Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
- ✓OR Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.

- ✓OR Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above).
- ✓Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
