They demonstrate exceptional skills in managing complex emergency programs, leading diverse teams under pressure, and providing strategic guidance to ensure effective delivery of recovery assistance to affected communities.
What You'll Do
- →What will I do in this position if hired?
- →In this position, you will oversee FEMA regional recovery programs and staff responsible for helping individuals, communities, states, tribes, territories, nonprofits, and other partners recover from disasters and emergencies.
- →Typical assignments include: Overseeing Individual Assistance and Public Assistance program delivery.
- →Reviewing disaster declaration issues, recovery operations, project applications, and funding matters.
- →Ensuring recovery activities comply with the Stafford Act, FEMA policy, regulations, and headquarters guidance.
- →Resolving operational, policy, staffing, and stakeholder issues.
- →Managing budgets, staffing, schedules, priorities, and performance.
- →Representing FEMA in meetings with Federal, state, local, tribal, territorial, nonprofit, and private-sector partners.
- →Supporting emergency operations, including possible deployment or recall during disasters.

- →At FEMA, our mission is to help people before, during and after disasters, and every employee at FEMA has a role in emergency management.
- →Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites.
- →All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description.
- →Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.
