The position serves as a Supervisory Emergency Management Specialist responsible for Emergency Support Function (ESF) #11 emergency preparedness and response. This position supports the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in the National Capital Region by providing expertise on agricultural and natural resources assistance for all hazards emergency preparedness and response efforts.
What You'll Do
- →The duties may include, but are not limited to: Serve as the Emergency Support Function (ESF)#11 National Coordinator and liaison between the U.S.
- →Department of Agriculture (USDA), APHIS and inter-agency emergency response partners.
- →Deploys to disaster-affected areas when necessary.
- →During ESF#11 activations work may be performed 24/7 on behalf of USDA and partners.
- →In coordination with the APHIS Programs, implements Agency-wide support for all-hazard responses.
- →Coordinates ESF #11 preparedness and response activities with the department, other federal agencies, and ESF partners.
- →Provides a wide variety of services relative to the development, analysis, review and coordination of proposed APHIS policies related to NRF core capabilities and activities.
- →Ensures proper and timely attention is devoted to high level, top priority, urgent and/or controversial issues, problems, or situations.
- →Supervises, trains, evaluates and manages a team of subordinate emergency management personnel.
- →Develops short term and long-range plans and goals and sets priorities and deadlines for the staff.
