The Supervisory Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (SDRT) operates within the Eastern Kansas Health Care System (EKHCH), ensuring the effective functioning of the Radiology Service. Responsible for overseeing and directing clerical and technical activities, the SDRT ensures continuous, high-quality service delivery in alignment with the VA's mission.
What You'll Do
- →Functions: a.
- →Ensures adequate quantities of supplies to meet workload demands through systematic ordering, receipt, and inventory controls.
- →Keeps procedure rooms stocked with necessary supplies, focusing on emergent equipment and supplies.
- →Coordinates new product evaluations with Vendors, Logistics, and Contracting Services and recommends methods and products to reduce costs or increase quality. b.
- →Coordinates and supervises daily quality assurance activities in Radiology Imaging rooms.
- →Works closely with Patient Safety, Quality Management, and the Radiation Inspector General.
- →Ensures compliance with safety regulations/practices and proper documentation of accidents involving employees, patients, or visitors. c.
- →Adheres to hospital infection control and safety policies emphasizing sterile technique, storage of sterile supplies, disposal of body fluids and "sharps," proper attire, handwashing practices, and continuing education. d.
- →Supervises employees with grade levels of GS-10 and below, instructing them in specific job tasks and techniques.
- →Ensures the availability of written standard operating procedures (SOPs), Statement of Works (SOWs), workload expectations, and annual assessments of technical competencies. e.
- →Clearly communicates performance expectations through the formal employee performance management system.
- →Observes performances, conducts work performance critiques, provides informal feedback, periodically evaluates employee performance, resolves complaints and grievances, and develops work improvement plans. f.
- →Administers VA personnel policies including annual leave, scheduling assignments, and technologist selection.
- →Supervises functional divisions of Radiology including General Diagnostic Radiology, Special Procedures, Computerized Tomography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, and Ultrasound. g.
