About the Role
This position is located within the Diagnostic Imaging Services at the Joseph Maxwell Cleland Atlanta VA Medical Center. The incumbent serves as a Supervisory Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist at the Joseph Maxwell Cleland Atlanta VA Medical Center.
What You'll Do
- →The Chief Technologist serves as the second-line supervisor for the nonsupervisory diagnostic radiologic technologists and medical instrument technicians.
- →Typical duties may include, but are not limited to: Planning, organizing, and directing the ongoing developments of the Radiology service, as well as analyzing, evaluating, advising and coordinating clinical activities as well as short term and long-term strategic planning.
- →The incumbent is also responsible for the higher-level review of the VA0750 performance evaluations for the technologist staff reporting to the first-line section supervisors.
- →This includes the 2nd level supervisory responsibilities of all Diagnostic Radiologic Technologists and Medical Instrument Technologists.
- →Plans work schedules to assure an even flow and distribution of work; explains work requirements and assigns work on a daily and weekly basis, accounting for weekend and evening shifts (as needed); sets deadlines and priorities; develops operating instructions; identifies equipment requirements; recommends methods to improve work quality and productivity.
- →The incumbent functions independently, working within the framework of identified objectives/ strategic planning for the Health Care System, Medical Center and the Imaging Service.
- →The incumbent strives to meet the needs of customers while supporting VA missions.
- →He or she consistently communicates and treats customers (Veterans, families, Veteran representatives, visitors, and all VA staff) in a courteous, tactful, and respectful manner.

- →Incumbent protects printed and electronic files containing sensitive data in accordance with the provisions of the Privacy Act of 1974 and other applicable laws, Federal regulations, VA statutes and policy, and VHA policy.
