About the Role

The Supervisory Diagnostic Radiological Technologist, is responsible for supervising a group of advanced diagnostic radiologic technologist (ADRTs) in Picture Archiving Computer Systems (PACS) and overseeing the PACS section's daily operations, ensuring system performance, stability, reliability and user support.

What You'll Do

  • Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional The duties of the Supervisory Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (DRT) in Diagnostic Imaging Service include, but are not limited to: Assigns, directs, and schedules the day-to-day work of staff in the PACS department at the MEDVAMC to ensure equitable distribution of workload and continuity of operations.
  • Revises schedules as needed to respond to workload and fluctuations.
  • Reviews work in progress and upon completion, performing spot checks as appropriate.
  • Routinely evaluates quality, accuracy, and productivity, taking corrective action when deficiencies are identified.
  • Takes corrective or disciplinary action within delegated authority and recommends appropriate disciplinary measures to the immediate supervisor when necessary.
  • Keeps employees informed of management goals, objectives, policies, and procedural changes and maintains open communication regarding employee participation and concerns.
  • Develops and implements training plans for subordinates, including cross training initiatives to enhance operational flexibility and staff competency.
  • Ensures new or less experienced employees receive appropriate training and mentoring to perform assigned duties safely and effectively.
  • Participates in establishing performance standards and contributes to preparation and maintenance of functional statements for the section.
  • Participates in the Incentive Award Program by recommending and recognizing employees for exceptional performance and contributions to patient care.
  • Prepares formal recommendations for promotions, reassignments, and other personal actions, including recognition of highly satisfactory or outstanding performance.
  • Keeps the immediate supervisor informed of situations that may slightly impact operations, including staffing changes, increased cost, service limitations, or workload surges.
  • Prepares plans to address sudden increase or changes in workload, priorities, or deadlines; Coordinates with internal and external services to resolve operational issues.
  • Assists in preparing budget and cost estimates based on historical data, anticipated workload, and overall section capabilities.
