About the Role

The Supervisory Criminal Investigator serves as a Branch Chief in the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Arson & Explosives Research & Intel Division, US Bomb Data Center/TEDAC. The Branch Chief provides investigative expertise and oversight for criminal investigations and organizational performance relating to law enforcement programs.

What You'll Do

  • The major duties of the Supervisory Criminal Investigator (Branch Chief) position include, but are not limited to, the following: Develops and establishes policy concerning the overall program objectives, goals, resource requirements and milestones for NCETR-related Programs.
  • Provides advice to and coordinates with Federal, State, local, and foreign law enforcement agencies regarding the benefits of NCETR-related programs to all law enforcement and forensic organizations.
  • Assures implementation, by subordinate organizational units, of the goals and objectives for the assigned programs.
  • Directing the accomplishment of work through investigative, instructional, technical, and administrative staff.
  • Exercises delegated managerial authority to set a series of annual or multiyear long-range work plans and schedules for investigative or administrative work.

  • Citizen or National Selective Service registration is required for males born on, or after, December 31st 1959.
  • Those not registered should have an approved exemption on file.
  • May be required to serve a one-year probationary period.
  • You must be a current permanent ATF employee with competitive status or a CTAP/RPL eligible candidate.
  • Pass drug screening and subject to random drug test.
  • Suitable for Federal employment determined by background investigation.
  • You must meet all applicable time-in-grade requirements by the closing of this announcement.
  • Financial Disclosure: If selected, you may be required to disclose financial information in accordance with DOJ and Federal ethics guidelines.
  • MOBILITY PLAN: New employees hired pursuant to this vacancy announcement must sign a mobility agreement.
