This position is located in Office of Intelligence Operations, International Affairs Division in Mexico City, Mexico.The selectee serves as an assistant to the principal or senior ATF representative and is located in the host country. Assist in directing and managing the planning, development and implementation of joint strategies, tactics, information sharing and other programs involving mutual law enforcement concerns between ATF and the host country.
What You'll Do
- →The major duties of the Supervisory Criminal Investigator (Assistant Country Attache') position include, but are not limited to, the following: Coordinates activities with the highest-level law enforcement, military, and other government officials in the host country.
- →Identifies problems and resolves disputes, misunderstandings, etc., with the U.S.
- →Embassy staff and appropriate foreign officials.
- →Serves as a U.S. expert spokesperson on all matters relating to firearms enforcement, with particular emphasis on international trafficking activities.
- →Provides expert advisory services to law enforcement and other government officials in the host country on firearms enforcement strategies, tactics, operational practices, information sharing, firearms tracing, etc., and in major criminal investigations conducted by foreign law enforcement agencies.
- →Leads and/or participates as a principal member of working groups, hearings, conferences, and formal meetings concerned with the ITAR program and other law enforcement issues of mutual concern to the Bureau and to the host country.
- →Performs the full range of supervisory duties over staff members assigned to ATF's office in the host country.
Requirements

- ✓Citizen or National Selective Service registration is required for males born on, or after, December 31st 1959.
- ✓Those not registered should have an approved exemption on file.
- ✓May be required to serve a one-year probationary period.
- ✓You must be a current permanent ATF employee with competitive status or a CTAP/RPL eligible candidate.
- ✓Suitable for Federal employment determined by background investigation.
- ✓You must meet all applicable time-in-grade requirements by the closing of this announcement.
- ✓Financial Disclosure: If selected, you may be required to disclose financial information in accordance with DOJ and Federal ethics guidelines.
- ✓Driver's License This assignment requires a Diplomatic Passport.
- ✓The selected employee will work with the International Affairs Division to obtain a Diplomatic Passport, which is issued by the Department of State.
- ✓MOBILITY PLAN: New employees hired pursuant to this vacancy announcement must sign a mobility agreement.
- ✓The purpose of ATF's mobility policy is to enhance career development and progression, and achieve mission and business effectiveness.
- ✓To accomplish these objectives, the mobility plan will facilitate the movement of employees through special short-term assignments or permanent reassignments throughout the Bureau.
