About the Role
This position is located with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, OJS, Cultural Resources Division in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This position is a Supervisory Criminal Investigator with the Cultural Resources Division, responsible for the supervising all investigatory processes related to Archeological Resources Protection Act and the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (ARPA/NAGPRA), and complex criminal investigations on Indian Reservations and trust lands throughout the U.S.
What You'll Do
- →As Supervisory Criminal Investigator (ARPA Chief), GS-1811, Duties are not all inclusive, but demonstrative of the position.
- →Provides direction on the performance of the full range of in-depth investigative duties requiring a comprehensive knowledge of law enforcement and skills.
- →Provides oversight on the organization and planning investigations of major and/or sensitive criminal activity occurring on or impacting Indian country..
- →Assists and reviews reports of arrests and interviews all subjects suspected of violations of Federal, State, Tribal and local laws.
- →Testifies at hearings and trials and secures search warrants through processing of affidavit.
- →Gathers information at a crime scene, documents interrelationships of facts, relevance of evidence and validity of allegations involving criminal activity.
- →Review and approve final reports of investigations to ensure they are prepared in a clear, concise, logical, and impartial manner for submission to the appropriate law enforcement, attorneys, or prosecutors office.
- →Provides oversight of all surveillance of sites and suspects and/or perform sensitive undercover assignments to obtain evidence, establish probable cause or link multiple suspects and events to criminal activity.
