The incumbent serves as the Compliance and Enforcement Operations Manager for the Agricultural Marketing Service's (AMS) National Organic Program's (NOP) Compliance and Enforcement Division. The manager supervises a team of NOP compliance and enforcement specialists that review and investigate violations of the USDA organic regulations.
What You'll Do
- →The duties may include, but are not limited to: Delineate the scope of NOP's statutory authority through the formulation of policy and staff-level guidance to ensure the best use of resources.
- →Direct the categorization, tracking, and assessment of the validity of hundreds of complaints and/or inquiries received each year through the USDA complaint hotline, NOP website, email, and other sources.
- →Oversee compliance specialists' communication with certified organic operations, uncertified farms and businesses, certifying agents, State Organic Programs, complainants, and/or other NOP participants.
- →Direct official communications with violators, such as issuing notices of warning, ceases and desist notices, and notices of noncompliance, suspension and revocation.
- →Apply compliance principles, concepts and practices to develop and implement policies and procedures in the processing, investigation, and disposition of complaints alleging violations of organic regulations.
