About the Role

Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, U.S. Border Patrol Headquarters, Strategic Planning and Analysis Directorate, Operations Requirements, located in Washington, D.C.

What You'll Do

  • Relocation Authorized Position: All relocations will be placed on hold at the time of selection, as USBP awaits to receive funding.
  • As soon as funding becomes available, you will be contacted by the CBP Hiring Center to coordinate an enter on duty (EOD) date and complete the necessary relocation forms.

  • This position will allow you to use your expertise to prevent illegal entry of aliens into the United States by land, water, or air; enforce criminal provisions of the Immigration and Nationality Laws; and seek out and apprehend smugglers or aliens who are in the United States illegally.

  • This position starts at a salary of $173,968.00 (GS-15, Step 1) to $197,200.00 (GS-15, Step 10).
  • As a Supervisory Border Patrol Agent (Division Chief), you will serve as a secondary administrative law enforcement officer (under 5 U.S.C. 8331 (6C) and 8412 (d)).
  • Typical duties include: Directing and making major policy decisions and recommendations within the framework of broad programs and objectives established at the headquarters and field levels.
  • Providing staff with broad policy guidance and direction and resolving complex and highly controversial problems involving the interpretation of broad policies, procedures, regulations, laws, regulations, and in conjunction with resource allocations.
  • Developing and recommending operating plans for the assigned Division and recommending annual budget submission that are consistent with the USBP strategic plan.
  • Implementing special action plans for determining program priorities and making adjustments and adaptions to USBP mission and operations as appropriate.
  • Reviewing proposed and/or new regulations and legislation that impacts USBP mission and operations and assessing the impact of such proposals and makes recommendations for revisions.
