About the Role

Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, U.S. Border Patrol, Spokane Sector, Whitefish Station in Whitefish, MT. Additional selections may be made beyond the total number of vacancies specified using this vacancy announcement. Further selections may also be made for additional organizational divisions and/or units within the duty location(s) listed above.

What You'll Do

  • This position will allow you to use your expertise to prevent illegal entry of aliens into the United States by land, water, or air; enforce criminal provisions of the Immigration and Nationality Laws; and seek out and apprehend smugglers or aliens who are in the United States illegally.

  • This position starts at a salary of $109,383.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to $142,199.00 (GS-13, Step 10).
  • As a second-line Supervisory Border Patrol Agent (DPAIC), you will serve as a secondary administrative law enforcement officer (under 5 U.S.C. 8331 (6C) and 8412 (d) and be responsible for overseeing station-wide law enforcement operations, personnel, intelligence activities, and resources to ensure effective enforcement of immigration and related laws.
  • Typical duties will include: Directing and managing all facets of station operations, including enforcement, detention and processing, intelligence, seized property, and support functions through subordinate supervisors and staff.
  • Developing and implementing station policies, priorities, and action plans consistent with Headquarters and Sector objectives, adjusting operations to meet evolving threats and conditions.
  • Supervising and evaluating subordinate supervisors and employees, making recommendations on hiring, promotions, awards, training, and disciplinary actions to ensure mission readiness and workforce effectiveness.
  • Leading liaison, coordination, and joint operations with foreign, federal, state, local, and tribal partners to synchronize intelligence, operations, and enforcement activities within the station's area of responsibility.
