Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, U.S. Border Patrol, Del Rio Sector, Special Operations Detachment, located in Del Rio, TX. Additional selections may be made beyond the total number of vacancies specified using this vacancy announcement. Further selections may also be made for additional organizational divisions and/or units within the duty location(s) listed above.
What You'll Do
- →This position will allow you to use your expertise to prevent illegal entry of aliens into the United States by land, water, or air; enforce criminal provisions of the Immigration and Nationality Laws; and seek out and apprehend smugglers or aliens who are in the United States illegally.

- →This position starts at a salary of $109,383.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to $142,199.00 (GS-13, Step 10).
- →The Supervisory Border Patrol Agent (BORSTAR) serves as a first-line supervisor in a primary law enforcement officer position under 5 U.S.C. 8331 (6C) and 8412 (d).
- →Duties and responsibilities include: Detecting and preventing the smuggling of, and illegal entry of, aliens into the United States and detecting and apprehending those aliens in violation of the conditions under which they were admitted.
- →Directing and overseeing conventional and unconventional Border Patrol operations, as necessary to detect, identify, and interdict persons suspected of violating law and rescue individuals that have fallen in distress due to the remote and inhospitable conditions along the borders.
- →Investigating and documenting criminal activity using intelligence gathering and investigative techniques and directing the deployment of resources to target areas of the greatest risk based upon available intelligence.
- →Representing USBP at conferences, boards, and committees, both within and outside of USBP as well as presenting oral or written briefings and testifying in court proceedings.
- →Leveraging emerging technologies, geospatial information, and other resources and assigning technology and equipment to specific areas in accordance with current threat analysis.
