About the Role
This position serves as a Supervisory Aviation Safety Inspector in the Flight Program Operations (AJF), Flight Program Safety directorate, Regulatory Training & Standards Group, AJF-3200. The organization is responsible for ensuring aircraft operations, maintenance programs, and aviation training programs comply with federal and safety regulations. This is a non-flying position.
What You'll Do
- →This Supervisory Aviation Safety Inspector (Flight Oversight) will not conduct certification (pilot evaluating, testing, and checking) job functions as a required crewmember, including safety pilot.
- →This position will apply a broad knowledge of the aviation industry, aviation safety, and Federal aviation laws, regulations, and policies.
- →The Group Manager (GM) directs the work of subordinate employees and managers that focus on the day-to-day operations for pilots by developing specific skills to the desired standard with the help of information, instruction, guidance, and practice for training and standardization programs within a major subdivision.
- →Work usually includes a mixture of routine and complex projects/programs based on the objectives of the major subdivision/LOB/SO.
- →Managerial duties include coaching and mentoring to enhance team/group performances, communicating the organization's vision and objectives, implementing workforce planning, monitoring performance, setting group priorities, and working collaboratively to resource and achieve results.
- →Defines, plans, and organizes assigned budget, staff, and other resources to accomplish objectives for more than one organizational unit/project/program.
- →Manages budget and either reallocates resources among organizational units/ projects/programs or requests additional resources, as needed.
- →Performs critical aspects of the budget planning process, including projecting short-term and long-term future needs and justifying resource requirements.
- →Applies advanced knowledge of the applicable 14 CFRs, aviation compliance and enforcement, training and standards, and aviation safety systems and their functions.
- →Demonstrates advanced understanding of budget, human resource, administrative policies and procedures, national initiatives, and the objectives of the DOT/FAA.
- →Contacts are primarily with AJF management officials and executives within ATO to discuss the status of AJF regulatory training and standards program.
- →In some areas, may have frequent contact with customers, other government entities, and other external parties to interpret policies/procedures or for other project/program purposes.
- →Has authority to make commitments for subordinate organizational units, within guidelines.
- →Work is typically governed by the applicable CFR, internal procedures, and AJF/ATO objectives that frequently leave room for discretion.
