About the Role
This Supervisory Aviation Safety Inspector position (Middle Manager) reports to the applicable manager and will execute the Agency's aviation safety mission, communicate and build change coalitions, seek out opportunities and involve their teams in supporting change across the organization and employ best practices for sponsoring change and manage resistance.
What You'll Do
- →Responsible for aviation safety activities in a complex and dynamic air carrier and/or general aviation environment that includes experience in one or more of the following specialties: Operations, Avionics, Maintenance, Aircraft Dispatch, Cabin Safety, Rotorcraft-Helicopter, and Flight Oversight.
- →Applies advanced knowledge of the technical aspects of the work directed.
- →Ensures the promotion of the highest level of safety compliance with regulatory standards while utilizing transparency of data exchange that includes the identification of hazards and management of risk.
- →Manages and sets clear performance standards that promote accountability, a sense of individual responsibility, professionalism, and pride for organizational performance to next level managers (e.g., assistant managers, front line managers, supervisory principal inspector, as applicable).
- →Ensures effective managerial work and work quality across all units and cross-organizational relationships while maintaining unit and individual well-being.
- →Responsible for the leadership, planning, prioritizing, direction, communication, tasking, training, and scheduling of work.
- →Supports effective problem solving by ensuring subordinates are accountable to address challenges and barriers and are clear about roles and responsibilities for decision-making.
- →Confirms active collaboration occurs beyond the office/branch and that solutions fully consider and represent all relevant perspectives/interests.
- →Delegates work and empower subordinates to decentralize decision-making.
- →Confirms subordinates take on expected work and produce intended results with minimal intervention.
- →Makes effective resourcing decisions across several work units, teams, or groups; making certain that work units deliver expected output within required time frame and budget.
- →Adjusts resourcing plans as needed to meet changing work conditions.
- →Hold other managers accountable to make good business decisions in meeting the needs of Flight Standards (FS).
- →Work is typically governed by established policies, procedures, and organizational objectives that frequently leave room for discretion.
