About the Role
Serves as a Division Manager within the General Aviation functional areas of the Flight Standards Service and reports to the applicable Deputy Director.
What You'll Do
- →The Supervisory Aviation Safety Inspector manages the work of a large organization through subordinate employees and manager and is responsible for providing leadership, guidance, and oversight for the full range of Flight Standards program activities by driving collective results.
- →Responsible for managing the development of the Service's strategic direction selling measurable outcomes and adjusting resources as necessary to meet goals and objectives within targeted timeframes.
- →The incumbents is also responsible for planning, formulation, implementation, administration, and evaluation of a variety of Flight Standards Service programs and projects.
- →This includes directing a cohesive leadership team that sets clear strategic direction, assures alignment across all organizational functions and programs, and fosters commitment to the values, principles, and objectives of the organization.
- →Creating and articulating clear organizational vision and functional change.
- →Creating and sustaining strategic alignment and aligning leadership strategy with business strategy.
- →Leads and directs a staff of aviation safety experts and other professionals in developing and implementing national safety initiatives and policies, data supported approaches, and identifying and developing innovative technologies to reduce injuries and fatalities in the aviation industry.
- →Maintaining internal and external awareness and identifying trends potentially impacting Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) mission and services; developing recommendations for responding to challenges and changes; developing new insights to situations; and encouraging new ideas and innovations.
- →Participates on high level Flights Standards workgroups that guide the establishment, management, or reengineering of Flight Standards programs.
- →This includes exercising full managerial authority to oversee, guide, and support the implementation of programs and initiatives with agency wide impact and/or requiring multi departmental coordination.
- →Ensuring projects are conceived, developed, and executed based on impact, importance, and relevance to the FAA Administrator¿s key initiatives and strategic goals, directing organizational activities and framing strategic plans based on broad organizational assessments and evaluations of long-term agency and organizational objectives.
- →Represents the Flight Standards Service on a variety of nationwide programs with Foreign Authorities, Interagency groups, and industry groups which includes creating and maintaining a professional network of supporting leaders withing the FAA and building cooperative partnerships with customers and stakeholders.
- →Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates¿ employees and managers.
- →Sets priorities and establishes schedule for completion of work.
