About the Role
The Supervisory Aviation Safety Inspector will manage a Flight Standards organization.
What You'll Do
- →The position reports to the applicable manager & will execute the Agency's aviation safety mission, communicate & build change coalitions.
- →The manager is responsible for aviation safety activities in a complex & dynamic air carrier &/or general aviation environment that includes experience in one or more of the following specialties: Operations, Avionics, Maintenance, & Cabin Safety.
- →Applies an advanced knowledge of the technical aspects of the work directed & ensures the promotion of the highest level of safety compliance with regulatory standards while utilizing transparency of data exchange that includes the identification of hazards & management of risk.
- →Manages & sets clear performance standards that promote accountability, a sense of individual responsibility, professionalism, & pride for organizational performance to next level managers (e.g., assistant managers, front line managers, supervisory principle inspector, as applicable).
- →Ensures effective managerial work & work quality across all units & cross-organizational relationships while maintaining unit & individual well-being.
- →Responsible for the leadership, planning, prioritizing, direction, communication, tasking, training, & scheduling of work.
- →Also responsible for time & attendance, leave approval, performance evaluation, corrective & disciplinary actions, & the setting of the front line office goals & objectives.
- →Supports effective problem solving by ensuring subordinates are accountable to address challenges & barriers, & are clear about roles & responsibilities for decision-making.
- →Confirms active collaboration occurs beyond the office/branch & that solutions fully consider & represent all relevant perspectives/interests.
- →Delegates work & empowers subordinates to decentralize decision-making.
- →Confirms subordinates take on expected work & produce intended results with minimal intervention.
- →Ensure subordinates communicate progress & barriers, & coordinate decisions across organizational boundaries as appropriate.
- →Applies an advanced knowledge of budget, human resource, & other administrative policies & procedures, & an advanced understanding of the objectives of the major subdivision.
- →Makes effective resourcing decisions across several work units, teams, or groups; making certain that work units deliver expected output within required time frame & budget.
