About the Role
The Supervisory Assistant Nurse Manager supports the Nurse Manager in overseeing operations of a nursing unit/patient care area. Fosters team development, ensures compliance with standards of clinical practice, and serves as a key liaison between staff and leadership. This position will be assigned to Dermatology/Sleep/Rheumatology Outpatient Clinic.
What You'll Do
- →General Description of Assigned Duties: The Assistant Nurse Manager duties will include but are not limited to: Direct and supervise the Dermatology, Sleep, and Rheumatology Clinic nursing staffing as designated by the Nurse Manager.
- →Act as the Nurse Manager during time of Nurse Manager absences.
- →Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, setting priorities, and preparing schedules for completion of work.
- →Assign work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and the requirements of the assignments, and the capabilities of subordinates.
- →Evaluate the performance of subordinates as delegated by the Nurse Manager.
- →Make recommendations to the Nurse Manager for appointments, advancements, or reassignments of subordinates.
- →Give advice, counsel, or instruction to subordinate personnel on work and administrative matters (such as performance and conduct issues).
- →Hear and resolve complaints of subordinates and referring more serious complaints not resolved to higher level supervisors.
- →Recommend and/or take disciplinary action where appropriate.
- →Follow the hiring and selection process for new employees in collaboration with the Nurse Manager.
- →Identify developmental and training needs of subordinates and services and providing or making provision for such development and training.
- →Identify and implement performance improvement based on performance/quality measures.
- →Maintain patient and employee safety, standards of care and practice, the work environment, and accreditation and regulatory standards.
- →Actively develop and manage collaborative partnerships with other departments, both internal and external to the VA.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.

- ✓Must pass pre-employment physical evaluation Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
