About the Role
The Nursing Operations Service Line Supervisory Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) supports the Nurse Manager (NM) in overseeing operations of a nursing unit/patient care area. Fosters team development, ensures compliance with standards of clinical practice, and serves as a key liaison between staff and leadership.
What You'll Do
- →Major Duties: Provides coverage for other ANMs as needed.
- →Responsible and accountable for the direction and oversight of specific orientation, training, development of staff, and evaluation of individual staff performance.
- →Functions as a role model, educator, practitioner, and leader.
- →Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team to remove barriers and implement new evidence-based cutting-edge programs/processes.
- →Serving as the first line supervisor of nursing personnel in the patient care area ensuring the head nurse/NM retains VA Handbook 5007 requirements.
- →Approving schedules and leave for employees under their direct supervision.
- →Appraising performance, recommending performance standards, and recommending performance awards for employees under their direct supervision.
- →Serving as hiring official during the recruitment process for employees under their direct supervision Recommending proposed discipline or grievance adjustments for employees under their direct supervision.

Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
