About the Role

The Smithsonian Institution is the world's largest museum, education, and research complex, with 21 museums and the National Zoo. This position is located in one of the SI facilities serviced by the Office of Facilities Management (FM), Smithsonian Institution (SI). The Office of Facilities Management is responsible for all Smithsonian facilities, many of which are designated as historic and all of which are visited by millions of people each year.

What You'll Do

  • In this position, you will: Supervise from 15 to 100 permanent employees as well as contractor services, provides services for facilities ranging from 50,000 -1.5 million square feet on a 7-day a week 365 day per year schedule, including providing services to occupants and millions of visitors annually.
  • Ensure and promotes compliance with all mandated programs created to provide a safer environment for employees, tenants, and visitors.
  • Assist in the management and coordination of all activities relating to the physical operation, maintenance, and in-house repair and improvements of the facilities, their grounds, parking lots, and entry ways.
  • Assist in the planning and coordination of small (less than 50 persons) to large (greater than 3,000 persons) special events each year.
