This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration, Civilian Personnel Records Center. The incumbent is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the activities of a team of employees engaged in providing Reference and Operations work pertaining to military and/or civilian medical and personnel records, various general purpose and local Federal agency records, and military organizational records. .
What You'll Do
- →As a Supervisory Archives Technician, you will: Supervise a subordinate staff consisting of approximately 10 to 15 archives aids and archives technicians.
- →Coordinate operations of the unit.
- →Assign duties, answer questions, interpret or explain policies and regulations.
- →Develop and write procedures regarding unit work assignments and policies.
- →Prepare, issue, and monitor routine internal instructions and procedures.
- →Conduct staff meetings to convey and discuss suggestions, changes and new policies or procedures, which effect section operations.
Requirements
- ✓The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service.
- ✓One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
- ✓To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/day/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week on your resume.
- ✓A probationary or trial period may be required.
- ✓Continued employment is contingent upon supervisory certification that continued employment will benefit the Federal Service; the certification will occur no less than 30 days before the end of the probationary/trial period.
- ✓A one year supervisory or managerial probationary period may be required.
- ✓Must successfully complete a background investigation.
- ✓Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.
- ✓If you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959, certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so.
- ✓Go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form i-9.
- ✓Federal law requires verification of the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires in the U.S.
- ✓Obtain and use a government-issued charge card for business-related travel.
- ✓Some of the work is performed in an office setting, but much is performed in the records stacks where the work requires climbing caster-equipped ladders handling thereon boxes of records weighing up to 50 pounds that are stored up to16 feet above the floor; work also involves considerable standing, walking, stooping, bending, stretching and lifting.
