About the Role
As a Director of the Packers and Stockyards Division (PSD), Livestock and Poultry Program, you would be responsible for enforcement of the Packers and Stockyards Act and regulations. This includes monitoring livestock, meat and poultry industry activities and conducting regulatory compliance reviews and investigations to determine whether subject persons and firms are in compliance.
What You'll Do
- →The duties may include, but are not limited to: Responsible for formulating and establishing, current and long-range policies and programs to carry out the broad, varied, and complex functions and activities of the Division.
- →Coordinates and collaborates with the Office of the Deputy Administrator (ODA), and analyzes suggestions and recommendations from industry and others to improve policies.
- →Investigating and determining whether packers, auction market operators, commission firms and dealers are solvent.
- →Developing and identifying methods and facilities to eliminate deficiencies in weighing livestock, poultry and meat to prevent fraud through incorrect scale operations.
- →Identifying opportunities for program improvement through legislative amendments to the Act based on an understanding of livestock industry marketing practices and trends.
- →Instituting appropriate administrative disciplinary actions.
