About the Role
About the Position: Serves as a Substance Abuse Counselor within Defense Health Agency Medical Treatment Facility, Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, VA. This position is located within the Directorate of Mental Health, Substance Abuse Rehabilitation Program, NMCP. The purpose of the position is to provide specialized counseling and treatment services to individuals with substance use disorders.
What You'll Do
- →Schedules, coordinates, and monitors tasks and rehabilitation activities of assigned treatment teams caseloads.
- →Provides training and mentoring of assigned treatment team counselor’s day to day performance in all aspects of their clinical work.
- →Determines counselor/intern placement in the various divisions (sections) of SARP.
- →Performs prospective Counselor screenings.
- →Provides individual and classroom training for counselors regarding the management of the clinical file and documentation in the electronic medical record.
- →Leads treatment team review sessions with patients and staff and monitors group-counseling sessions.
