About the Role

Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Acquisition, Procurement Directorate, Border Enforcement Contracting Division, located in Indianapolis, IN. Additional selections may be made for other organizational divisions and/or units within the duty location(s) listed above.

What You'll Do

  • Joining Customs & Border Protection (CBP) will allow you to utilize your expertise in providing administrative and analytical support to the Procurement Directorate within the Office of Acquisition.
  • This position starts at a salary of $62,297.00 (GS-09, Step 1) to $80,991.00 (GS-09, Step 10).

  • In this Staff Assistant position you will become a key team member of Homeland Security professionals involved in managing the daily administrative operations and providing general administrative support to ensure the office functions smoothly and efficiently.
  • Staff assistant is responsible for managing office property, preparing correspondences and routine reports, maintaining records, coordinating travel, and assisting with special projects.
  • Preparing and submitting standard forms for asset transfer or disposal as directed, submitting supply requests, and routine payment documentation per office procedures, ensuring all required documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Coordinating logistics for meetings, conferences, and public appearances, including preparing agendas, reserving venues, and arranging catering, ensuring successful and well-organized events.
  • Ordering office supplies, coordinates deliveries by updating office equipment tracking sheets, maintains office records, files appropriate requests, to maintain adequate stock levels which are also key aspects of this responsibility.
