About the Position: This position serves as a Special Operations Specialist (Strategy/Plans), GS-0301-13 within the Strategy, Plans, and Policy Directorate (J-5) of Special Operations Command Europe (SOCEUR). The directorate conducts strategic and operational level planning and resource management. It is located in Stuttgart, Germany on Patch Barracks.
What You'll Do
- →Responsible for developing implementation strategies to execute theater activities that contribute to building partner capability and conducting security force assistance and foreign internal defense efforts.
- →Responsible for leading the design, creation, and development of future strategy and plans for the execution of sensitive SO within EUCOM's AOR.
- →Assist the division chief in the design of sensitive SO contingency and security cooperation plans that support the EUCOM Commander and other geographic and functional combatant command (CCMD) pre-crisis and crisis activities.
- →Support the coordination, synchronization, and implementation of high priority EUCOM contingency plans.
- →Assist in the design of sensitive operations that support DoD and other CCMD sensitive compartmented planning activities.
- →Coordinate efforts with other US government departments and agencies for gaining authorities, permissions, forces, and funding to execute the full spectrum of SO activities throughout EUCOM's AOR.
- →Act as the representative of the command in theater or national level conferences and meetings with regard to plans, policy, and strategy, ensuring the continuity of plans, activities, and tasks pertaining to the AOR.
- →Conduct a continuous, collaborative process of analysis and evaluation with EUCOM, the Joint Staff, DoD, Interagency Partners, NATO, and PNs to assess the sensitive programs supporting SOCEUR strategic plans that affect the AOR.
- →Develop and assess operational risks and potential mitigation measures.
- →Make recommendations to support and address posture and force requirement shortfalls.
- →Assess and evaluate operational and strategic effects of resource application, planned activities, and events, recommending alternative courses of action based on measured effects and the SOCEUR Commander's strategic guidance.
