About the Role
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

- →The ASPIRE Center program's patients present with a wide variety of healthcare needs including substance use history, medical issues, mental health problems, and co-occurring disorders.
- →Duties include, but are not limited to: Establish and maintain effective therapeutic relationships with Veterans in the ASPIRE Center and/or their families.
- →Independently work with Veterans and their families who are experiencing a wide range of complicated medical, psychiatric, emotional, behavioral, and psychosocial problems.
- →Utilize psychosocial assessment in facilitating the Veteran's maximum use of treatment for attainment of the highest level of independence that is possible and practicable.
- →Possess a working knowledge and experience in use of medical and mental health diagnoses, disabilities, and treatment procedures, including acute, chronic and traumatic illnesses, common medications and their effects/side effects, and medical terminology.
- →Appropriately utilize principles of human growth and development over the life span and will be able to assist Veterans in coping with the loss and grief experiences from disability and terminal illness.
- →Facilitates discharge planning through collaboration with Veterans and their families as well as interdisciplinary treatment team members to ensure that appropriate discharge plans are executed in a timely manner.
- →Participates as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team and provide consultation services to other staff regarding the psychosocial needs of Veterans and the impact of psychosocial problems on health care and adherence to treatment plan.
- →Possess and demonstrate ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing with people from varied backgrounds.
- →The Social Worker is able to demonstrate knowledge and skill in the use of software applications for drafting documents and data management as well as other computer systems in use by the VHA.
- →Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 0700-1600 (tour is flexible between timeframe) Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): Not Authorized.
- →Permanent Change of Station (Relocation Assistance): Not Authorized.
- →EDRP Authorized: Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply for incentive.
Requirements
- ✓You must be a U.S.
