What You'll Do
- →Serves as a Supervisory Social Worker in a Health Services Department (HSD) of a Bureau of Prisons (BOP) federal correctional facility.
- →In conjunction with, and under the guidance of, the Health Services Administrator (HSA), is responsible for the professional and administrative management of the social work services provided in the institution.
- →Offers interpretation of social work practice and assists in the development and review of BOP's social work policy; develops, recommends, and approves department training; establishes baseline data needs for updating program objectives; and develops and monitors performance improvement measures for social work practices.
- →Monitors staff responsible for all clinical functions performed by the department, including discharge planning, reduction in sentence, group therapy, social work assessments and evaluation, treatment activities, and training.
- →Assures the social workers supervised are aware of and adhere to all current directives of the BOP, meet current Joint Commission standards, state licensure standards, and BOP expectations.
- →Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution.
- →The staffs correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and are performed on a regular and recurring basis.
