About the Role
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.
What You'll Do
- →The Substance Abuse Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program (SARRTP) social worker (MSW) assumes responsibility for the provision of substance abuse services to Veterans who are admitted to the substance abuse residential treatment program at the Salisbury VAMC.
- →Duties include but not limited to the following: The incumbent is able to independently work with veterans and their families who are experiencing a wide range of complicated medical, psychiatric, emotional, behavioral, and psychosocial problems.
- →Must independently complete thorough psychosocial/substance abuse assessments to determine the psychosocial functioning and needs of veterans and/or their families.
- →Must actively participate as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team and actively participate through collaboration with veterans and family as well as interdisciplinary treatment team members in the development and implementation of a client centered treatment plan.
- →Must possess a working knowledge and experience in use of medical and mental health diagnoses, disabilities, and treatment procedures, including acute, chronic and traumatic illnesses, common medications and their effects/side effects.
- →Must serve as a liaison between veterans and/or their families and VA and community resources in order to ensure thorough delivery of services.
- →Must provide consultation and education to veterans and their families regarding community resources, VA benefits and specialty programs, and advance directives.
- →Must be knowledgeable of terms, treatment modalities and services used specifically to assess and treat individuals who have been diagnosed with a substance abuse and/or a mental health disorder.
- →Is willing to serve on committees, work groups, and task forces at the facility as deemed appropriate by the supervisor and Chief of Social Work Services.
- →Is able to provide assistance with the orientation and learning of less experienced social workers and if interested serve as a preceptor for social work students.
- →Is able to provide coverage in other social work program areas to ensure adequate social work coverage.
