About the Role

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

  • Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional This announcement is for a Social Worker (Program Coordinator) position, located at the Providence VA Medical Center in Providence RI.
  • The position is full time (40 hours per week) The Social Worker Program Coordinator manages the administrative and clinical aspects of a specialty case management program, Homeless Outreach.
  • As the Coordinated Entry Specialist, the incumbent has responsibility for overseeing the inflow and outflow of referrals for housing assistance, be it from community partners, walk-ins, outreach at local shelters, internal VA consults, and referrals through the National Call Center for Homeless Veterans.
  • Further, the incumbent is responsible for generating and maintaining the By Name List, an active list of Veterans experiencing homelessness in the catchment area.
  • The incumbent is responsible for building and maintaining a network of community partners with the shared goal of effectively ending Veteran homelessness.
  • As part of this, the incumbent is tasked with leading ongoing case discussion meetings with VA and non-VA partners.
  • As clinical supervisor of the Homeless Outreach team, duties include but not limited to: Performs the administrative and personnel management function relative to staff supervised.
  • Establishes guidelines and performance expectations for staff, which are clearly communicated through the formal employee performance management system.
  • Observes workers' performance, demonstrates and conducts work performance critiques.
  • Provides informal and formal feedback to all employees.
  • Incumbent is able to resolve informal complaints and grievances.
  • Develops work improvement plans, recommending personnel actions as necessary.
  • Provides advice and counsel to workers related to work and administrative matters.
  • Effects disciplinary measures as appropriate to the authority delegated in this area.
