About the Role

The New Mexico VA Healthcare Network is recruiting for a Social Worker (Military to VA Program Manager). The incumbent oversees all transition activities and the coordination of care and services for the Post-911 Service Members and Veterans. The incumbent also serves as the supervisor for the Coordinator for the Intimate Partner Violence Assistance Program (IPVAP) and the Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and Polytrauma programs.

What You'll Do

  • Major duties include, but are not limited to: Performs program coordination duties as appropriate and/or requested by supervisor, Chief, Assistant Chief of Social Work Service, or designee.
  • Incumbent provides direct care services.
  • Anticipated workload assignment is 70% of time.
  • The incumbent provides clinical supervision for licensures or certification.
  • The incumbent represents the program in contacts with other agencies and the public.
  • Explains veteran's treatment and progress to third parties as appropriate.
  • Manages the quality control and evaluation of the professional services provided.
  • Devises methods of obtaining data and evaluates data to determine the effectiveness of treatment.
  • Identifies consistent qualities of successful treatment and of failed treatment The incumbent coordinates team reviews of medical records and assures that the documentation of the assigned staff reflects the services provided and meets requirements of JCAHO, VHA, Medical Center, and Social Work Service documentation policies and standards.
  • The incumbent ensures that clinical care within the assigned program meets the standards prescribed by local codes and is within the deliver care standards and guidelines in accordance with applicable grant and contract proposals, as appropriate.
  • The incumbent intervenes to facilitate the compliance of the program proposal or contract guidelines where appropriate.
  • The incumbent takes responsibility for improving professional skills, participating in planning, and executing specific staff development projects, attending seminars and institutes, and participating in training programs of other disciplines as requested.
  • Incumbent maintains productivity at the established required level.
  • The incumbent will coordinate treatment and communicate with the care lines to facilitate continuity of care for Veterans.
