About the Role
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.
What You'll Do
- →The Primary Purpose of the Position is: To provide social work care coordination and psychosocial services to VA North Texas Healthcare System Veterans.
- →The Intimate Partner Violence Assistance Program (IPVP) Social Worker has the primary responsibility to provide clinical evidence-based services including, assessments and interventions; program development; Veteran, family, Caregiver, and staff education on intimate partner violence.
- →GS 9 Social Worker: The Social Worker uses their skills in assessing and treating psychosocial problems of Veterans and their families/significant others.
- →Social work responsibilities include the assessment of psychosocial problems that cause distress, often impacting the health condition and creating barriersto care.
- →The incumbent must complete comprehensive assessments to determine the underlying cases of the presenting problem(s), the interpersonal and environmental factor impacting the problem, and its effect on the patient.
- →Through shared decision making with the Intimate Partner Violence Assistance Program Coordinator(s) and treatment team(s), the social worker will assist the patient and family to understand the contributing factors to the problem(s).
- →Incumbent will discuss the pros and cons of possible short term and long-term solutions and encouraging them to make positive and lasting changes to reduce stressors.
- →The social worker will coordinate with VA staff and community agencies to assist in problem solving.
- →The incumbent is sensitive to the ethnic, cultural, and age diversity of the Veteran population and adjusts intervention and treatment plans as appropriate.
- →Must be a skilled communicator capable of developing effective partnerships with local, state, and federal agencies as well as non-governmental organizations.
- →The incumbent in this position requires advanced knowledge and understanding of the services and benefits available for Veterans, their family members, caregivers, and VA employees from both federal, state, and private sector resources.
- →The incumbent works with multiple VA healthcare services and with community agencies, leaders, and organizations where s/he has no access to social work clinical supervision.
- →The incumbent is responsible for developing and establishing linkages and collaborates on VA Domestic Violence/Intimate Partner Violence Assistance Program efforts with community healthcare and social service agencies.
- →The incumbent is responsible and accountable for the clinical aspect of the program and effectiveness of the facility Domestic Violence/Intimate Partner Violence Assistance Program.
Requirements
