About the Role

Position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.

What You'll Do

  • VA Careers - Social Work: https://youtube.com/embed/enRhz_ua_UU Major duties include, but are not limited to: Conduct home assessments as part of the application or reassessment process for the Program of Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers.
  • Participates in face-to-face or virtual contact with the caregiver and Veteran to assess function and the need for personal care services.
  • Utilize and assist in maintaining a data monitoring system to measure the efficacy of the program and assists in collecting and analyzing local data reports.
  • Advises and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams throughout the medical center on caregiver issues.
  • Creates educational tools, develops programs and implements training focused on specific caregiver needs/issues.
  • Conducts Veteran, caregiver, and family clinical interventions to facilitate the identification of caregiver stress, psychiatric illness, emotional distress, and social needs as treatment issues.
  • Provides referrals to VA medical and mental health treatment, including VA benefits, community-based social services and other non-VA entitlements.
  • Serves as a consultant for navigating complex processes caregivers, Veterans, and families encounter when interacting with government and community agencies.
  • Respond to inquires from the Centralized Eligibility and Appeals Team and is responsible for tracking and processing Functional and Home Care Assessment consults.
  • Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm.
  • Schedule may be changes to meet the needs of Veterans and the Medical Center.
  • Evening and weekend coverage may be required.
  • Telework: Not authorized.

Requirements

  • You must be a U.S.

  • Must be proficient in written and spoken English.

  • Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).

  • Possess and maintain a valid State Driver's License.
