About the Role
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the application. Former participants ineligible to apply.
What You'll Do
- →The Social Worker serves as a full-time member of the Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (BHIP) within the Mental Health ICC at the Syracuse VA Medical Center.
- →This position provides outpatient mental health services to Veterans connected with the Syracuse VAMC and its Community-Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) and is based at the Oswego VA CBOC.
- →The Syracuse VAMC is a large, complexity level 1C facility serving Veterans, families, and caregivers across thirteen counties, including seven CBOCs.
- →As an affiliated tertiary care system, it offers a broad range of specialized programs.
- →Primary responsibilities include delivering psychiatric interventions, mental health treatment, and stabilization services in an outpatient setting.
- →The Social Worker provides recovery-oriented, trauma-informed psychotherapy for individuals and couples, conducts psychosocial assessments, crisis interventions, and treatment planning, and employs measurement-based care and other evidence-based practices.
- →Group therapy may be facilitated as needed.
- →Services are delivered both in person and via telehealth to ensure access to care.
- →Collaboration with Veterans, caregivers, and interdisciplinary team members is essential to providing comprehensive mental health services.
- →The Social Worker is required to maintain an unrestricted clinical license and adhere to the NASW Code of Ethics and all applicable local Social Work policies.
