About the Role
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.
What You'll Do
- →The Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary (BHIP) Social Worker provides psychosocial assessments and treatment to veterans needing interventions related to General Mental Health including case management, individual, couples, family, and group psychotherapy.
- →The incumbent serves as a member of the Behavioral Health Program.
- →Major duties include, but are not limited to the following: Clinical Functions: Incumbent is a professional social worker assigned to the Behavioral Health Outpatient Program and Social Work Service.
- →The social worker independently will develop an assessment of the veteran in collaboration with the interdisciplinary treatment team, the veteran, family members and significant others.
- →The goal of the assessment is to highlight the veteran's strengths, limitations, and internal/external supports and service needs in order to optimize the veteran's functional status, formulate a diagnosis, and lay the foundation for the treatment plan, if necessary.
- →The incumbent demonstrates an understanding of the range of treatment and skills needed for general mental health services for all adult patients.
- →The incumbent must be able to identify services needed, refer to appropriate services, and function within a multi-disciplinary setting.
- →They must be able to effectively communicate the needs of veterans to a multi-disciplinary team.
- →Must be able to work with Veterans and family members from various socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic, educational, and other diversified backgrounds utilizing counseling skills.
- →Actively participates as a member of an interdisciplinary treatment team and actively participate through collaboration with Veterans and family as well as interdisciplinary treatment team members in the development and implementation of a treatment plan.
- →Implements treatment modalities in working with individuals, families, and groups to achieve treatment goals.
- →This requires judgment and skill in utilizing supportive, problem solving, or crisis intervention techniques Serves as a liaison between Veterans and/or their families and VA and community resources to ensure thorough delivery of services.
- →Possesses knowledge and ability to independently implement treatment modalities, provide counseling and/or supportive groups for Veterans and families within the scope of their licensure.
- →Provides education to Veterans and their families regarding community resources, VA benefits, specialty programs and available health services.
