About the Role

About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Outdoor Recreation Center on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, AK. This a Regular Full-Time position.Regular Full-Time employees have a regular and continuous work schedule of at least 35 hours to a maximum of 40 hours per week. You are eligible for the following benefits and compensation: Health and Life Insurance, Retirement, 401K, Shift Differential, Sunday Premium Pay, Holiday Pay.

What You'll Do

  • Diagnoses malfunctions of outboard motors, snow machines, travel trailers, A TVs, motor vehicles and other equipment to determine the source of trouble and to determine the extent of repairs required, including electrical systems, geared units, and components.
  • According to manufacturers' manuals, tears down, adjusts, repairs, reassembles, and runs operational checks on equipment.
  • Times and adjusts engines to operating tolerances, using specialized testing equipment, such as compression testers, analyzers, test benches, and specialized measuring instruments.
  • May be required to work weekends, holidays, and or shifts. 2.
  • Instructs patrons in all phases of safety regulations concerning use of boats, motors and other issued equipment.
  • May collect fees for rental of equipment and prepare daily cash reports and deposit funds. 3.
  • Determines supplies and parts needed for repair of equipment items.
  • Must maintain maintenance records on all equipment repaired, annotating labor hours, materials, and date of repair.
  • Based on these records, determines bench stock required and maintenance schedules. 4.
  • Adheres to all required AF fire/safety policies, OSHA and HAZMA T/HAZCOM requirements and maintains all required documentation. 5.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • OTHER SIGNIFICANT FACTS: 1.
  • Skill and Knowledge: Ability to test and troubleshoot components and systems equipment defects for outboard engines boat motors, snow machines, A TVs and travel trailers and motor vehicles.
  • Ability to interpret and apply manufacturers' repair manuals and technical specifications, schematics, diagnostic codes, and safety manuals.

  • FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements.
  • You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
  • It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
