Summary

Main duties will centre around the maintenance and repair of all interior and exterior structural woodwork, and fibreglass on yachts.

What you will be doing:

Responsible for repairs of all woodwork and fibreglass work on yachts within agreed timescales. Repair as necessary the following areas (including but not limited to):

  • Floorboards & Bulk heads
  • Saloon Table & Chart Table
  • Mirrors & Catches
  • Hatches and Blinds
  • Cabinet, Hinges, Catches etc.
  • All Doors, Locks & Drawers
  • Companion Hatch & Drop Boards
  • Companion Step & Handrails
  • Companion Slide Door replacement/maintenance.
  • Plexi for Instrument Panels
  • Gasket on Ice Box Lids
  • Vinyl on Sides & Ceiling o Deck and Rails
  • Velcro behind all saloon cushions secure and functioning
  • Acrylic/Glass windows.
  • Corian surfaces.
  • Use the established work order or check list for all boat inspections and repairs. Immediately upon completion, sign and submit to the maintenance supervisor.
  • Monitor and enforce any mechanism designed to reduce wastage; report any wastage to your supervisor.
  • Inform your supervisor of any safety hazard.
  • Coordinate purchase of material inventory with supervisor; be responsible for having adequate but not excessive inventory on-hand. DocuSign Envelope ID: E8107DF0-6CC5-47F1-BBF6-58C7617295E7
  • Clean workshops and surrounding areas as per established schedules.
  • Actively involve self in repairs or retrofit projects on all yachts. Make sure repairs on hull and deck match existing colour. If in doubt, check with your team leader. Obtain a work order from your team leader before you undertake repairs on a yacht.
  • Responsible to collect all survey reports, ensure the repairs are completed before the required date.
  • Assist with the enforcement of control mechanisms designed to stop wastage.
  • Keep you work area clean, organised, and safe.
  • Report to your team leader any defect or potential defects you notice while carrying out your duties.
  • Coordinate purchase of fibreglass material inventory with your team leader; be responsible for having adequate but not excessive inventory on-hand.
  • Assist with securing boats and property in the event of a hurricane.
  • Following the company policy when borrowing any company tools required for assigned tasks.
  • Other related duties as assigned to support the repair of vessels.

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Significant experience working unsupervised as a shipwright, bulkhead to deck joints; and all phases of fibreglass repairs, hull and deck construction
  • Knowledge of FRP and GRP repair strengths
  • A good understanding of fibreglass materials
  • Ability to work with Epoxy resins
  • Prior repairs with balsa core yachts
  • Ability to mix and match colours
  • Knowledgeable on structural repairs
  • An understanding of various products used in yacht building
  • An understanding of various types of structural fibreglass
  • An understanding of gelcoats/flowcoats and the application thereof
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs weight
  • Operation & maintenance knowledge of departmental equipment
  • Ability to swim
  • Ability to secure yachts at dock and assist with anchorage
  • Ability to handle emergency situations within company policy
  • Ability to speak well and interact with guests – good customer service skills
  • Excellent command of quality guest service
