About the Role

This position is located in the Architect of the Capitol, Office of the Chief of Operations, Executive Director of Facilities Operations US Capitol Building, Assistant Superintendent Tenant Services and Facility Operations Division, Maintenance Branch, Sheet Metal Section. The incumbent is a Sheet Metal Mechanic Supervisor with full supervisory responsibility for control over work operations and subordinates and is responsible to superiors for the quality and quantity of work performed.

What You'll Do

  • Please Note***The supervisor is considered to be a working supervisor with full supervisory responsibility for work operations and employees who are performing sheet metal operations work in support of the capitol building. limited to CURRENT AOC EMPLOYEES ONLY.
  • Tour of Duty: Monday - Friday (3:00am - 12:30pm) Hours May Change Due to Operational Needs of Management Supervisory and Managerial Responsibilities: Participates with the Branch Chief in the initial planning of current and future work schedules, staffing needs, estimates and recommendations as to scheduling projected work.
  • Plans use of subordinate workers' equipment, facilities and materials on a week-to-week or month-to-month basis.
  • Establishes deadlines, priorities and work sequences and plans work assignments based on general work schedules, methods and policies set by higher level management.
  • As required, coordinates work with supporting or related work functions controlled by other supervisors.
  • Determines the number and types of workers needed to accomplish specific projects.
  • Determines how many assignments can be done concurrently, which ones can be delayed and the number and types of employees needed, considering skills, personnel, material and equipment available and required.
  • Redirects individual workers and resources to accomplish unanticipated work and/or equipment failure, etc.
  • Informs the Branch Chief of the need to revise work schedules and re-estimates labor and other resources.
  • Performs administrative and technical supervisory functions for subordinates.
  • Assigns duties and evaluates performance.
  • Manages the organizational unit's budget and workload.
  • Develops performance requirements for subordinates and ensures a mutual understanding of the performance standards.
  • Resolves complaints and grievances.
