About the Role

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

What You'll Do

  • Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional The Senior Social Worker (SSW) maintains a clinical caseload and provides individual, group, and family counseling within their scope of practice.
  • The candidate participates in preventive services, interdisciplinary treatment planning, and outreach activities.
  • The SSW is responsible for coordinating appropriate care for Veterans entering treatment and managing ongoing caseload responsibilities.
  • Duties include but are limited to: Provides comprehensive clinical assessments, diagnostic impressions within licensure scope, and evaluation of complex mental health presentations including co-occurring substance use, medical, and psychiatric conditions.
  • Provides education to Veterans, families, and significant others on mental health conditions and treatment options.
  • Provides individual, family, conjoint, and group counseling within LPMHC scope of practice.
  • Delivers evidence-based, recovery-oriented interventions appropriate to licensure and privileging.
  • Provides crisis intervention, risk assessment, safety planning, stabilization, and follow-up.
  • Provides consultation to AVAHCS staff and community providers based on clinical assessment and treatment planning.
  • Develops, implements, and documents person-centered, individualized treatment plans.
  • Exercises independent clinical judgment regarding treatment decisions and documentation.
  • Adheres to operational policies, clinical practice guidelines, and interdisciplinary team procedures.
  • Coordinates care with other VA programs and external agencies as clinically appropriate Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8:00am- 4:30pm; subject to change based on the needs of the facility Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): Not Authorized Permanent Change of Station (Relocation Assistance): Not Authorized EDRP Authorized: Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply for incentive.
