About the Role

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

What You'll Do

  • Major Duties: This Senior Social Worker PTSD Clinical Team (PCT) has experience that demonstrates possession of advanced practice skills and judgment.
  • At least two years should be in an area of specialized social work practice.
  • The incumbent is licensed or certified by a state area of specialized social work practice.
  • The incumbent is licensed or certified by a state at the advanced practice level which included an ASWB advanced generalist or clinical examination, unless they are grandfathered by the state in which they are licensed to practice at the advance practice level.
  • The Senior Social Worker may have certification or other post masters training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship or equivalent supervised professional experience in a specialty.
  • The Social Worker independently provides clinical psychosocial and case management services to eligible Veterans and their family members to meet biological, psychological, social, and environmental needs.
  • Veterans treated come primarily from the John J.
  • Pershing catchment area.
  • Their health care and psychosocial problems and needs are complex and require a high degree of clinical oversight and creative problem solving.
  • Services are provided in the John J.
  • Pershing VAMC and in the community.
  • The incumbent is required to interact not only with the patient but also family, significant others, community agencies, and other staff. a.
  • Interviews Clients and Conducts Psychosocial Assessments.
  • Interviews Veterans and their family members/significant others to establish facts about the Veteran's situation, presenting problems and their causes, and the impact of such problems on the Veteran's functioning and health as part of a comprehensive psychosocial assessment.

  • Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
