About the Role

Senior Social Worker functions as a member of the Primary Care Mental Health Integration team within the Behavioral Health Service at VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System (VASNHS); they may be located at the VA Medical Center or at an outpatient primary care clinic. The PCMH team directly supports the behavioral health needs of the Patient Aligned Clinical Team(s) (PACT) within the Primary Care Service.

What You'll Do

  • Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional Veterans requiring mental health interventions come from a wide geographic area and present with simple to complex psychosocial and/or medical needs.
  • Behavioral health treatment interventions may be short term or long-term requiring a higher level of clinical oversight and problem solving.
  • Duties may include but are not limited to: Provide support to the BHIP team by evaluating Veterans presenting at the walk-in clinic, assisting in mental health emergencies.
  • Adheres to all current directives of Veterans Health Administration (VHA), meets with Joint commission and Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities standards, state licensure.
  • May serve as a VVC point of contact for other disciplines within VASNHS, providing clinical services and case management-based services.
  • Conduct psychological assessments and diagnoses mental health disorders based on DSM-5 criteria Treat adjunctive interventions for treatment of mental health disorders Conducts initial and comprehensive psychosocial assessments of Veterans referred by the Primary Care Providers.
  • Makes clinical assessments, identifying needs and strengths Effectively uses professional skill, objectivity and insight.
  • Uses clinical training and experience to interpret data and identify viable treatment options.
  • Assesses high risk factors, acuity and need for services.
  • Based on comprehensive assessment, uses professional judgment and advanced practical skills to make a clinical diagnosis and prognosis Coordinates and provides mental health treatment for Veterans assigned to PACT; actively contributes and communicates with their PACT teams Provides short-term individual, family and group therapy services.
  • Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.
